In the manufacture of pillowcases, fabric is woven together in various patterns. Different fabric weave, different feeling (and longevity) of the pillow Percale and sateen are two basic types of weaves for pillow fabrics. Percale Percale-type bed sheets have a smooth feel, and they are medium weight with no gloss. Cotton-polyester blends generally wrinkle less than 100% cotton versions, but the latter tend to be softer (and more breathable). It is woven pretty tight which makes it durable and can last for a long time if you use them daily!! Sateen, on the other hand is a type of weave that feels very silky and smooth. It may not be as robust as percale, but it's super soft to sleep on — almost for a more luxurious feeling at bedtime.
